First family vacation- North Carolina

Yes, we have been on other trips...but this is our first family vacation just the 3 of us (well 4- we brought Bailey along!). We went to North Carolina and stayed in a log cabin in Hendersonville. Last year when we came here for our babymoon, we liked it so much we decided we would try to bring the baby the following year around the same time. The leaves were SO beautiful, the weather was cool and perfect, and we all had a great time!

We left Thursday late afternoon, and drove to Pooler (near Savannah, GA) to spend the night. That is the halfway point to where we were going.

Yes, we had to eat our Cracker Barrel in the parking lot because we couldn't bring Bailey inside! Jake didn't seem to mind

In the hotel Friday morning, ready to go to NC! It was so weird (but cool!) having Bailey in the hotel!

Hendersonville, NC Friday afternoon

Since it wasn't quite check in time, we stopped at Justus orchard right near our cabin. Here are Sean and Bailey, being silly

Sean wanted a picture of me picking an apple

We had to sample them, of course. We picked a bunch and brought them back to our cabin

I had to

Bailey enjoyed herself there

They had a pumpkin patch as well

Check out his hairdo here

I love this one

smooches from Bailey

And here we are at our cabin- the Pumpkin Patch! It was SO nice. Built in 2008, it was so new and clean and had everything we needed.

Just messin around in the yard

He likes to eat leaves!

It was Bailey's birthday (October 15- 2 years old!), so we brought along some special treats to celebrate with

and a special birthday collar

That evening, we went into Asheville to eat at the Fiddlin Pig. We ate there last year and really enjoyed it. They have great bbq, and a live bluegrass band. This night they had cloggers performing as well!

Jacob watching the cloggers
Bailey loved hanging out on the porch

Saturday we went to Chimney Rock. Bailey absolutely loved it. We did some hiking and she had the time of her life!

I wore Jacob in the Ergo, I think he really enjoyed it

Can you see Sean and Bailey up there?

Hiking back down

Getting pretty sleepy...

asleep

Bailey rides the school bus (we had to take it from the upper parking lot down to the lower where our car was)

We stopped at a pumpkin patch on the way home (Lyda farms)

In addition to leaves, he also likes to eat straw...

2 feet tall!

We had to visit my old summer camp, which happened to be right by where we stayed

I told Jacob he can go here one day

And Piggy's...where we'd always go the night before camp

We stopped at another pumpkin patch/orchard

On the way home, we drove all the way up to the top of the mountain we were staying on

View from our backyard

Jacob playing with toys in front of the toasty fire (they had a huge basket of toys! He loved it)

Sean warming up some apple cider that we bought at the orchard. Last year I was pregnant so I couldn't drink any of the cider (it is all unpasteurized), but I made up for it this year!

Yum!

Another necessity. This was enjoyed in the hot tub!

We bought some vegetables from one of the farms and Sean made a delicious meal for us. One of the things he made was a baked dish with sweet potato, onions, and apples. It was SO good!

The next morning (Sunday), we went to brunch at the Country Kitchen in Asheville (another place that we went last year). This is Jake and I playing around while we wait for the food

After brunch we walked around Asheville (Biltmore Village) a little

Flashback from last year, on the same street corner

This is the road leading up to our cabin. We stopped back by to pick up Bailey, then headed to Dillsboro

Dillsboro

After walking around and shopping a little in Dillsboro, we got back in the car and drove on the Blue Ridge Parkway
The kids in the car

We got Jacob a national parks passport...

....and he got his first 3 stamps! Well, actually he already has a stamp at home from the Hoover Dam, we just didn't have a book yet b/c that welcome center was closed

See the moon?
